Whilst walking around Players Classic, I stopped in my tracks when I spotted this Mk1 Ford Escort. First thing that drew me to it was how it sat it was low so I had to satisfy my potential airbag curiosity – turns out it’s static! I managed to have a word with the owner Gaz at GMBodycraft who’s carried out all the work on this beauty:
“I’ve done all the metal fabrication all the paintwork and built the engine, fab work was full weld in cage, floors, made tunnel, fully reconstructed inner wings, car is 5 linked rear and world cup crossmember at front, quick rack atlas axle, T5 Cosworth box and 2.1 pinto on 48 Dellortos, seats are carbon fibre, its only got what it needs lol, lowest mk1 with original body structure ie. not body over a tube chassis lol.”
Not only does it look good it goes very well Gaz tells me it drives as good as it looks and he isn’t scared of taking down the drag strip or flicking it out for some sideways action, with all of it’s motorsport pedigree it’d be shame not to!
