Carl’s 1988 Volkswagen Mk1 Caddy

I first spotted this beauty at last year’s Players Classic basking in the sunlight. This year we were at the same show and spotted it under cover in the paddock, lucky really as it was raining earlier in the morning. Being a Caddy it meant that it had quite a bit of extra space in the rear – this is where you can find the customised low rider bicycle. It’s clean and simple lines are complimented by the beautiful black paint work – then you make your way under the bonnet and into the engine bay and that’s where some real gems are.

I bumped into Rob the owner as I was milling around the Caddy taking shots and started chatting to him, I mentioned that I saw it last year but only took one shot of it and promised myself that if I saw it again I’d shoot it! I thought this would be a great opportunity to try out the interview/documentary style. So we agreed to meet up later during the day to finish off with a few questions and answers. The Caddy was the first of the four cars that I shot at Players Classic and as the day rolled on I wondered if I’d have the chance to do a quick interview – turns out that Carl managed to win a Players Award and was one of the last cars around at the show so we hurried across and grabbed some great footage.

Definitely one of my favourites of the show – I present to you ‘Double Trouble’ Carl’s 1988 Volkswagen Mk1 Caddy.

Unfortunately the video has now been taken offline but here’s a few stills taken from the video:
